The Covid-19 pandemic has created a great deal of uncertainty for theatres and other performing arts organizations all across the country. Groups are altering, postponing and cancelling their seasons. At the time of this writing, even the Broadway theatres in New York City have closed their doors until September 6th.
The BCT Board of Directors has decided to hope for the best, and therefore we are planning to begin our season on the usual weekend next fall. We realize that no one has the answer as to whether or not this is even possible, and of course if the schools are still closed in the fall and we are locked out of our performance space, we will not be able to hold any performances.
So, our "Plan A" is to ask you to consider ordering your season membership as usual with the knowledge that we may not see you until January 2021. If we need to cancel the fall show, season members would be notified. You would have the following options: you could do nothing, and donate the cost of your ticket back to the theatre, or you could request a refund for the cancelled show ($6.77 for each senior membership and $8.33 for each regular membership).
Our "Plan B" would be to move A Red Plaid Shirt once again, this time having it appear as the winter show in our 2020-21 season. We would then be producing only two shows in the upcoming season. The board would choose the show for the spring production at a later time.
We understand that many of you may not feel comfortable assembling in a group with other theatre-goers at this time. However, we would ask that you thoughtfully consider renewing your membership anyway. Last spring was the first time we had to cancel a production in our 87-year history, and our financial security depends on your ongoing generosity and faithful support.
We thank you for your loyalty, knowing that together we will get through this!
